We’re Featured in Alaska Business Magazine!

We’re thrilled to share that the Alaska Manufacturing Association (AKMA) is featured in the November 2025 issue of Alaska Business Magazine!

People in a warehouse engage in discussion, surrounded by shelves of boxes. One has pink hair; another wears a cap. Text: "Manufacturing Connections."

The piece, “Manufacturing Connections: A New Trade Association, Fresh from the Assembly Line,” captures how Alaska’s manufacturing community is coming together—makers, producers, fabricators, builders—to build something bigger than any of us could do alone.

“Manufacturing is an untapped economic engine in Alaska,” AKMA Co-Founder Megan Militello shared in the article. “We envision AKMA as the connector that can help diversify our economy by building local supply chains, fostering innovation, and creating jobs.”

When Alaska MEP closed earlier this year, we saw a gap that couldn’t stay empty. Alaska needed something permanent, Alaska-led, and built by the people who actually make things here. That’s how AKMA was born.

“We wanted to make sure that momentum didn’t get lost and that manufacturers had a seat at the table when it came to shaping Alaska’s economy,” Militello explained.

From food producers to metal shops, outdoor gear brands to packaging companies—AKMA exists to connect, advocate for, and amplify the voices of Alaskans who are building our state’s future.

Our community is already growing fast:

  • Over 30 members across every corner of Alaska

  • Quarterly MFG Mixers bringing makers together

  • Virtual roundtables connecting rural producers

  • Our first-of-its-kind statewide manufacturing directory

“You don’t have to work in isolation anymore,” says AKMA Co-Founder Lacey Ernandes. “We’re building an ecosystem that supports real people making real things.”

And if you’re a manufacturer, supplier, or creative maker building something right here in Alaska, now’s the time to join us. Together, we’re proving that Alaska manufacturing isn’t just surviving—it’s thriving.
