Ermine launched North America's homegrown Nordic ice skate industry in 2021. Today, Ermine manufactures a range of Nordic skates designed for different users and uses. Ermine has notched a number of industry firsts, including the first Nordic skate to use a polymer-ceramic finish, the first Xplore-compatible Nordic skate, the first Xplore-exclusive Nordic skate, the first Nordic skate for alpine touring boots and bindings, and the very first Nordic skate for kids. In addition to its in-house manufacturing, Ermine partners with other Alaska businesses, nonprofits, and groups to support our community and advance the sport of Nordic skating. Ermine has appeared in the New York Times, CNN, National Geographic, Alaska Public Media, and the Anchorage Daily News. In October 2026, Ermine opened its brick-and-mortar Nordic skate and wild ice storefront in midtown Anchorage.
